TÓTEM Madrid
TÓTEM is an icon of Madrid’s luxury hotel scene. A building from the early twentieth century where elegance, minimalism and avant-garde designs are combined. A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, it features the famous restaurant El Pimiento Verde – La Parrilla, an iconic bar (El Bar de Tótem), meeting rooms and a state-of-the-art gym.
Transformation and preservation
Casacuberta carried out a comprehensive transformation of this unique 19th century residential building into a 64 room boutique hotel, strategically located in the heart of the Salamanca neighbourhood in Madrid.
As a historic building with elements to protect, we managed to carry out a comprehensive intervention while preserving the essence and original character of the building, giving it an exquisite decoration that exudes serenity and style from the first moment.
A place in “the center of the center”
Located at the intersection of the streets Calle Hermosilla and Calle Lagasca, in the heart of Madrid’s Golden Mile, TÓTEM is located in a completely renovated 19th century building surrounded by the most luxurious stores in Madrid and in the vicinity of the city’s main tourist attractions.
Its historical legacy
It is a nineteenth century building, catalogued as historical heritage of Madrid, and representative for its facades on Calle Hermosilla and Calle Lagasca with a hierarchy in five floors delineated by impost lines where a rhythmic succession of balconies is developed. Between the openings there are large solid walls with a lime plaster finish, executed with a pitted effect and recreating a breakup of masonry.
Several features worth mentioning are its original pine staircase with an iron railing, restored piece by piece, and its quadrangular polygon shape with its prominent chamfered corner.
