Beau-Rivage is the oldest and most prestigious hotel in Geneva that remains in family hands. Built in 1865 by Jean-Jacques Mayer and in the hands of his descendants until 2020, when it was acquired by the Casacuberta family. Since its opening it has hosted royal families, heads of state, artists, writers, and countless personalities of great international relevance.

It is worth mentioning that the hotel has witnessed major events such as the deaths of Empress Elizabeth of Austria “Sissi” or Duke Charles of Brunswick, the signing of the founding agreement of Czechoslovakia and auctions of worldwide importance since 1987 when Sotheby’s occupied part of the ground floor of the hotel.

In 1967, as a vision of Fred Mayer, Chat-Botté opened its doors as the hotel’s first restaurant. Since then, great names in gastronomy have taken over: since Lucien Leheu earned his first Michelin star, he has been followed by Louis Outhier and Richard Cressac, who stepped down in 2001 in favour of Dominique Gauthier. In September 2023, after working as sous-chef for 4 years, Mathieu Croze took the reins of the restaurant to continue to make history.

Beau-Rivage Genève also has one of the most prestigious wine cellars in Switzerland. Wine and Beau-Rivage Genève, or the story of a long family passion and a treasure that has become priceless. With more than 12,000 units and 1,550 references, the cellar boasts examples of the most unique vintages and reputed producers. Mikaël Grou, chef sommelier, has won numerous national and international awards and is currently the second best sommelier in Switzerland.
